Paul and Julia’s Cottage Wedding in Quebec

When a childhood friend of mine asked me to DJ his wedding, I jumped at the chance! It’s always great to work with and meet new people but I also really enjoy collaborating with friends.

Paul and I used to play on the same hockey team when we were younger and have a lot of mutual friends so half the guests had familiar faces, the pressure was really on to perform!

As always, I went in depth with the couple on all the music they wanted to hear on their big day. From ceremony and cocktails to dinner and dancing, I ensured all their favourite songs were played and the ones they didn’t want to hear were not (which is just as important). I encouraged Paul and Julia to include “What song is going to get you on the dance floor” on their invitations so when guests RSVP’d they submitted advanced requests. This gave me a better understanding of the musical tastes of their guests.

Paul and Julia’s first dance was to ‘Beyond’ by Leon Bridges. Such a great song, all the guests joined the newlyweds half way through their dance. This was perfect for me because as the dancing portion of the evening started I already had everyone on the dance floor.

Here’s what Paul had to say about my services:

“Patty V is a true professional.  My wife and I hired him for our wedding, and we were pleased with his services every step of the way. He gained our trust easily and deservingly, and helped us with much more than the music.  Many guests commented on how beautiful the music was throughout the day, specifically leading up to the ceremony, and how the dance floor was packed all night. Somehow Patty was able to appease all ages and everyone had a blast!”

Ang of moment.us photography did a great job capturing Paul and Julia’s big day – be sure to check out her portfolio on her website and the pictures from the dance floor below!
