One morning I woke up and checked my Soundcloud account only to realize one upload in particular had recently racked up a couple thousand plays. So, I did what any normal human being would do and used Google to find answers.
A little background – for those of you who don’t know, Soundcloud used to be DJs go-to platform for uploading mixes, remixes and mashups until they made it nearly impossible to upload content because of copyright laws. Now Mixcloud is the go-to, so be sure to visit my page for my latest mixes!
After my successful search, I realized none other than Steve Aoki had been playing my mashup and on some major stages! Including: Tomorrowland in Belgium, Veld Music Festival in Toronto, Electric Zoo in New York, Ultra Music Festival in Brazil, Dragonland Music Festival in Hong Kong and many more. Steve even finished off his set at ‘GOTV for Hillary Clinton in Las Vegas’ with it, unfortunately, not even this could help Hillary win.
How Steve Aoki ended up with this mashup, I will never know but I applaud him for giving me credit and rocking it at all the major festivals from late 2015 to early 2017. It’s cool to think a DJ edit I made for my sets ended up being played by one of the biggest DJs in the world. Don’t worry though, I will never throw a cake at you.
